The Sacrament of the Sick

The Sacrament of the Sick is the sacrament through which the Church prays for God's healing, comfort and strength for those who are seriously ill or facing the challenges of frailty. Another name for the sacrament is the Sacrament of the Sick – it is a way of encountering God's love in times of need.

The Sacrament of the Sick is often administered to the dying, which is why it is sometimes known as the "Last Rites" but the sacrament is by no means exclusively for the dying and requests for anointing should not be delayed.

There is an Anointing Mass each Advent and Lent.

Twice a year Fr Sean visits all the sick who are unable to come to Mass and administers Holy Anointing to them.
