Giving
Parish Finance
The people of the Divine Mercy Partnership give generously not simply for us to 'pay the bills'. It is an investment in the mission God has entrusted to us here.
Of course, we do have ordinary costs: heating and lighting, insurance, repairs, and the day-to-day running of our churches. But the deeper reason we ask people to give is this: so that the Gospel can be proclaimed, the sacraments can be celebrated well, and the life of faith can be handed on to the next generation.
When you support the parish financially, you are helping to build a community where:
- Sunday Mass is the beating heart of parish life, and our worship is prayerful, dignified, and welcoming.
- People can come home to the Church - those returning after years away, those who are seeking, and those who have never been before.
- Children and young people are formed in faith, and families are supported rather than left to manage alone.
- Those who are sick, grieving, or struggling are not forgotten but can be supported.
What Your Giving Makes Possible
In simple terms, parish finances tend to fall into three broad areas:
1) Keeping the Doors Open
Building costs, maintenance, insurance, utilities, and compliance.
2) Worship and Pastoral Care
The practical costs of running a parish that celebrates the liturgy well and cares for people well.
3) Mission and Growth
The resources needed to form disciples, support ministry, train volunteers, welcome newcomers, and run programmes that help people meet Christ and deepen their faith.
Good Stewardship and Transparency
The parish has a finance committee that supports the parish priest in responsible stewardship. We aim to be careful, honest, and transparent with what has been entrusted to us.
Where possible, we will share clear summaries of parish income and expenditure, and we are always glad to answer reasonable questions.
If you give regularly, thank you. If you are able to increase your giving, thank you. If you cannot give at the moment, please do not feel embarrassed - you belong here. There are many ways to contribute to the life of the parish, and generosity takes more than one form.
💳 Gift Aid
Gift Aid is a simple way to make your offering go further, at no extra cost to you. If you pay UK Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax, and you complete a Gift Aid declaration, the parish can reclaim an extra 25p for every £1 you give. So a £10 donation becomes £12.50, and a £20 weekly standing order becomes £25. Over a year, that makes a real difference to the parish's ability to plan and to invest in its mission.
Who Can Use Gift Aid?
You can Gift Aid your donations if:
- You are a UK taxpayer, and
- The tax you pay in the tax year is at least the amount the parish will reclaim on your donations.
(If you are unsure, don't worry, just ask. It is easy for us to check.)
What You Need to Do
If you give using the Tap and Go contactless machine at the back of church or giving via the website, you will be invited to gift aid your donation at the end of the process.
If you give by Standing Order, or for a one-off donation, all you need to do is complete a simple Gift Aid declaration. This allows the parish to claim Gift Aid on your donations. The parish needs your name and home address, because that is part of the HMRC requirement. Printed copies of both forms are available at Church.

Please let us know if:
- You stop paying tax, or
- Your name or address changes, or
- You want to cancel your Gift Aid declaration.
This helps us keep our records accurate and ensures everything is done properly.
Gift Aid is one of the easiest ways to support the parish. Thank you for enabling it if you can.
🏢 Standing Order
A standing order is the Gold Standard way to support the parish, no matter how big your regular contribution is.
It isn't the only way to give, but it is the one that helps the parish most because it is regular and predictable. That steadiness makes it possible to plan responsibly, to keep on top of ordinary running costs, and, just as importantly, to invest in the mission of the parish.
How to Set One Up
Most people set up a standing order through their online banking or banking app. If you prefer, the parish can also provide a paper standing order form.

How Much Should I Give?
There is no "correct" amount, and we never want giving to become a source of pressure. If it helps, some people decide on a percentage of their income; others choose a fixed amount that feels manageable. What matters most is that it is an intentional and regular offering.
Gift Aid
If you are eligible for Gift Aid, please complete a Gift Aid declaration as well, so that your standing order can be topped up by HMRC at no extra cost to you.
If you already give by standing order, thank you. It makes more difference than you realise.
💻 Online Giving
Online giving is a simple way to make a one-off donation to support the Divine Mercy Partnership. We use Dona for online donations. It is not the same as setting up regular giving by standing order, but it is still a real help. In practice, it is often more useful than cash, because it reduces the time spent on counting, banking, and paperwork, and it allows the parish to process donations more efficiently.
How to Give Online
Please use the Donate button on this website. It will take you to our Dona page, where you can make a one-off donation.
Gift Aid
If you are a UK taxpayer, you may be able to increase your donation through Gift Aid at no extra cost to you. Dona will prompt you if Gift Aid can be added to your donation.
Thank you for supporting the parish. Your generosity helps us to worship well, to care for people, and to continue the mission of the Church here.
