Hello everyone, I'm Luke.
Some of you may know me from Mass, but not many of you will be aware of how I got here. My personal journey into Catholicism began with Alpha. Originally it was my then partner, now wife who had the interest of reconnecting with Catholicism, but I offered my support and a portion of curiosity of my own.
Week by week on attendance it became something I looked forward to, which at first was not so expected. I personally grew up in a non-religious household, but I am proud that I got to make a choice to join the Catholic Church, and this couldn't have been done without the open atmosphere of Alpha meetings.
Meeting up for a meal and a theological discussion with, who are at first, strangers did seem a little strange at first, but I can honestly say that many of these people are now my friends, and the sense of community that you can feel there is special and a great introduction to becoming part of the community of the Church and learning to open yourself up to Jesus Christ.
Since I did my life has only improved. I have found a profound sense of peace through understanding in faith given by the realisation that God was always there in my life, all I had to do was to open my eyes to see the works. Maybe you want to reconnect with your faith, or support those who do? Maybe you know someone who needs Jesus Christ in their lives, or is seeking answers that Christianity has the answers to?
Today, I’m inviting parishioners to consider joining the next Alpha course. This is a chance to ask your questions, share your thoughts, and discover more about the faith we cherish.
If you’re interested in learning more or signing up, the next Alpha course will be held at St. Anne’s in Chelmsley Wood, starting at 7 PM on Wednesday, September 2nd. It will consist of ten weekly gatherings, plus a special day away to deepen our experience together.
For more information, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Claz or Fr. Sean after Mass or contact the church office. I truly believe that this course can make a meaningful difference in your life, just as it has for me.
